CRCST Training and Certification
We can provide all the training and certification support your technicians need, whether they are new to sterile processing or experienced professionals.
We also make sure your leadership team has the qualifications to lead effectively, and we provide ongoing support to help them succeed.
What CRCST Certification Means
The Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) credential is offered by the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA, formerly IAHCSMM). Earning it requires passing the CRCST exam and completing hands-on experience in a sterile processing department, and certified technicians keep the credential current through annual continuing education.
Training for New Technicians
We help new technicians prepare for the CRCST exam and for the realities of the job, covering:
- Cleaning, decontamination and infection prevention
- Surgical instrumentation, inspection and assembly
- Packaging and preparation for sterilization
- Steam and low-temperature sterilization processes
- Sterile storage, inventory and distribution
- Regulations and standards, including AAMI ST79
Support for Experienced Staff
For technicians who are already certified, we offer continuing education, competency validation and training on new technologies and processes, such as flexible endoscope reprocessing and low-temperature sterilization, so your team stays current as practices evolve.
Developing SPD Leaders
Strong departments need strong leaders. We help supervisors and managers build the skills and qualifications to lead their teams, including preparation for advanced credentials such as HSPA’s Certified Healthcare Leader (CHL) and Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) programs.
